In this paper, the theories and applications of structural seismic test technique were summarized. By MTS, the cyclic loading test for a cylinder viscous damper, the quasi-static test for the reduced beam section joint of steel structure, as well as, the pseudo-dynamic test of a steel frame attached with mild steel damper were achieved. The performances of MTS and its applications were studied. Some theoretical and experimental methods of seismic analysis for structures were researched.By researching on the seismic test technique for structures using MTS, main efforts has been done as follows:The function and control mode of MTS were presented. The applying to seismic test for structures was discussed. Based on the fluid mechanic theory of power law, the relation between the damping coefficient and design parameter of bi-directional cylinder with slot were analyzed, the expression formula of the calculating damping coefficient was deduced. A few suggestions about the items and methods of testing for cylinder viscous damper were presented. Some new methods on quasi-static test and pseudo-dynamic test were applied. The seismic experimental performances of cylinder viscous damper, reduced beam section joint of steel structure and steel frame attached with mild steel damper were analyzed.
