The Metal V-belt CVT is regarded as the most ideal transmission, because of its simplicity and compact structure, easiness to operate and high performance, which is developing rapidly for its specialty. There will be also a great developing potentiality and extensive market in China. However,there isn't any deep research in the powertrain of SUV using the CVT for it's disadvantage.In order to get better fuel economy and the car performances,the choice and matching of the powertrain is a very important part in the design of SUV. The improvement of the matching of the drive line system is one of the most important means to improve the vehicle's economic performance.It need us to make the study on the matching strategy of the Metal V-belt CVT used on the SUV.The research in this field just get start,and there are many difficulties on the theory and design. And mastering these theories and the key techniques is very useful for conquering the disadvantages of CVT and improving the design ability of SUV. The reseach in the drive line system of the SUV using the CVT has been introduced in this paper. The main work has been completed as follows:1, According on many domestic and overseas references, the typical structure and work mechanism of CVT are elaborated. This work starts from matching between engine and CVT.The development and the uses of CVT are introduced,A discussment on the develop direction of the Metal V-belt CVT has been made.2, Acording to the characteristics of the drive line of the SUV with CVT,the work stutas of the powertrain with CVT is analysed and the basic parameters of the system has been calculated.3, Based on the Metal V-belt Continuously Variable Transmission test data, the affects of the drive line ratio and the ratio range to the performance of the vehicle are studied. And based on the given model of the system,the matching strategy of the SUV with Continuously Variable Transmission drive line is studied.4, The goings of the engine and Torque Converter are analyzed in detail, and the mathematics models of the engine and Torque Converter are built, their working characteristics are also analyzed. Through the their working analysis , we get the characteristics of the input, the conjunct working points, and the output.5, Through the research of the dynamical and economic performances in the SUV with Continuously Variable Transmission drive line , this paper provides the technic platform of the new SUV design.Innovation of this paper : this paper the first time studies the matching strategy , the dynamical and economic performances of the SUV with Continuously Variable Transmission drive line in our country. Through the research of the paper , we can improve the SUV performance made by the UFO company, which is in Zhejiang province. This paper can also provide the technic platform of the new SUV design.
