It is an effect method for diagnosing mechanical fault successfully to analyze its vibration signal. But as excessive background noise when machinery is running, signal carrying fault is flooded by noise, so that fault is not recognized. To truly diagnose fault, gathered signal is processed for one thing to increase the Signal-to-Noise of diagnostic information. So the paper will adopt adaptive noise canceling technology. It will pick up failure information from signal with noise.The key is to choose right adaptive arithmetic and delay length when you are about to use adaptive noise canceling technology. So on the basic of introducing the theory of adaptive noise canceling, LMS and RLS are analyzed and compared with each other, then simulated with computer. The results indicate: NLMS arithmetic belonging to LMS on the decreasing noise and convergence capability is better than traditional fixed step LMS. But the convergence rate is still slow. To FTF arithmetic belonging to RLS, its high convergence precision and fast convergence speed and briefness satisfy the need of mechanical system noise reduced. Then it is simulated to choose delay length, the result elicits the range of delay length.On the basic of simulation, FTF is applied to gear fault system and get good effect. It can pick-up characteristic of the fault. So it can be used.The paper does fringe groping for application of adaptive noise canceling in mechanics vibration signal's noise canceling and fault pick-up. It settles foundation for aftertime studying.
