With rapid development of national highway construction, more and more thin-walled high piers are employed, but the stability researches of high piers still have not been explored deeply. So, the core of the thesis contains as follows.(1)Based on extensive collection of relative documents about high-pier researches all around the world, the meaning and actuality of the stability researches on high piers are discussed.(2)According to stability types of common poles and the stability theory, supposed that the high pier has one or two initial flaws at random high, bearing formula of high piers with initial flaws was deduced in detail on Rayleigh-Ritz method, and calculating analysis also was proposed.(3)On the scale of 30:1, the model test was carried out according to 8# pier of Laiziba Bridge at the Liang-Wan highway. By model simulation theory, the researches of stability during construction and on traffic condition of high piers were explored, as well as the wind influence to the stability.(4)The finite soft, ANSYS7.0 was applied to analyze the stress and stain of high piers on two main experimental load cases, in order that experimental results and at-site results can be compared.(5)Combined with observing analysis of stress-deformation during Laiziba Bridge construction, and compared with theoretical results, the stability of high pier was studied, and several suggestion about the design and construction process of high piers were proposed to be referred at the same time.
