Zhun ga'er bituminous coal is the designed coal for boiler of DaTang Panshang power plant. However, Shenghua coal has been used instead due to coal provide changes. Shenghua coal is characterized in high volatile content, high heat value, low sulphur content, low ash content and et al., which is of high quality for power generation. While the coal has its weakness of relatively low ash melting point, which can easily lead to slagging and contamination of furnace heating surfaces. Based on particular analysis of shenghua coal quality and its effect on boiler performance, ash melting point and ash production rate have been fully taken into consideration, which can improve the rationality of steam coal blending. Then, a proper ratio of Shenghua coal and Zhun ga'er coal with relatively high ash melting point was gained, so as to raise the ash melting point. At last, numerical simulation software was used to validate the furnace combustion after coal blending. The results have shown that characters of blending coal and the designed one were no big difference, which can completely satisfy the demand for continuous and safe boiler running.
