This thesis focuses on geometric nonlinear static analysis of transmission tower. Firstly, the basic theory of geometric nonlinear analysis for transmission tower is introduced, Then second principle factors that affect geometric nonlinearity of transmission tower are described, which are large displacement and combined effects of bending moment and axial force; then the finite element methods are introduced separately. Using the finite element analysis software ANSYS,the geometric nonlinear static analysis are made on 5A-ZB3 transmission tower .The internal force and displacement of every phase are obtained and compared with liner result. Nonlinear factors have some influence to transmission tower structure. from the large displacement has big influence and combined effects of bending moment and axial force has small influence to tower. The paper present a kind of research idea and realizing method of parametric design on tower construction, The FEM model of tower will automatic build when input some character paramedics.
