The control of the synchronous generator has very important effect on the power system. The system stability has become the main problem of the power operation. Excitation control is one of the measures to improve the stability of the power system. Compared with other measures to enhance the stability of the power system, the excitation control has more advantages such as less investment and ease for achievement etc.This paper is based on the differential geometry, researching on the nonlinear excitation control of the synchronous generator. For the power angle aimed nonlinear control; there are still some problems in the voltage control. This paper has a further research on the differential geometry based nonlinear control. By a great deal of calculations and analysis, a new method is proposed, which not only can improve the stability of the power system but also better the voltage control. At the same time, simulation is conducted. The simulation results show the designed controller can achieve the satisfactory result on the stability of the power system and the generator output voltage.
