Directly combustion of biomass briquettes is one way to use biomass effectively and cleanly, that can have effect not only on energy saving and energy structure adjustment, but also on releasing global warming and greenhouse effect. But there are few researches about this project at present and the special boiler which applies biomass briquettes isn't designed and made in china. The paper researches the experimental model of the special boiler for biomass pellets and simulates combustion of biomass pellets using CFD software STAR-CD.The text sets up rational mathematic models about burning firstly, such as turbulence flow model,gas-solid two-phase flow model,models for volatiles, char and gas combustion. And then analyses the velocity filed,temperature filed,pressure filed and density filed with numerical simulation method. The main process of combustion of biomass briquette is the combustion of volatiles. Rational ventilation which controls temperature is very necessary for completely combustion of fuel. So the text discusses the effect of three different ventilation modes on combustion of biomass briquettes. At last , compare the calculated results with the test data and prove that the models of above are suitable on the whole.The paper finds out the numerical simulation method adapted to experimental boiler for biomass pellets by using computer and CFD technology. As an important method for boiler researching, the numerical simulation can do characteristic analyse and changed situation analyse of designed boiler, so it will supply academic guidance for the design and use of boiler and optimize the design of boiler.
