The energy problem becoming more and more seriously, but the people take much more attention to the indoor air quality. Therefore the air condition system must create a comfortable and healthy inhabitant environment with consuming a little energy. In order to improve indoor air quality, ventilation loads are increasing as following as fresh air supply rates are becoming greater. Among the possible methods, energy recovery exchanger is attractive to reduce ventilation loads and has been equipped in many HVAC (Heating Ventilating and Air Conditioning) systems in current days. The usage of the energy recovery exchanger can enable the air condition system to realize operating in great fresh air under the condition of not increasing energy consume or even saving energy, consequently improve the indoor air quality. However, the traditional energy recovery exchanger either large volume or drive equipment contained, result in low flexibility in single-building. The switch Thermal storage type energy recovery exchanger research in this paper is more flexibility than traditional exchanger therefore it has broad application prospects.This paper mainly studies the heat and moisture transfer performance of thermal storage type energy recovery exchanger, and analyzes its energy savings. From analyzing the heat and moisture transfer theory of Thermal storage type energy recovery exchanger, the study indicates that the heat and moisture transfer effectiveness depends on the particle size,the length of the exchangers velocity of flow and switch time. According to the parameters influencing the effectiveness, For the purpose of reducing energy consumption, a series of experiments have been done to investigate the influence of the main factors affect on the performance of thermal storage type energy recovery exchanger, and the experimental results were analyzed by means of heat and moisture transfer theory. The study show that sensible heat and latent heat effectiveness are affected by the differences of temperature and air moisture between fresh air and exhaust air. Comparing with the sensible heat effectiveness, it has more effect on the moisture effectiveness. The method based on scalar-form temperature front has been carried out for analyzing the influence of switch time on the effectiveness in this paper.By deducing the relation expression of three kinds of effectiveness, analyzes the influencing extent of sensible heat and latent heat effectiveness on total heat effectiveness. Through analyzing the energy savings of the air condition system using the plate energy recovery exchanger, indicates that whether or not saving energy of using the plate energy recovery exchanger depends on its heat and moisture transfer effectiveness and its pressure drop characteristic. The amounts of saving electronic energy relation with different area weather conditions and different cooling systems.
