Through the assimilating and analyzing the construction materials and the design of reinforced concrete arch bridges with long span from both domestic and abroad, the thesis studies the effect of the arch axis geometry, rise-span ratio, arch ring section and spandrel structures, as well as the ultimate bearing capacity and stability of the entire bridge on the design of reinforced concrete arch bridge. In addition, in consideration of construction, the thesis also studies the applicability of different construction methods such as cable crane system, stiffened skeleton system, swing construction system and cantilever construction system and correspoindingly economica spans and their applications of the reinforced concrete arch bridges.Based on the construction technology of cantilever casting of the project- No. 1 Bridge at Baisha'gou, a systematic study is carried out on the configuration selection and configuration design of the whole bridge, bridge model planning, arch-axis coefficient, rise-span ratio, size of arch ring section, spandrel structures, static analysis of the entire bridge (its max. bearing capacity) and the stability. The key technology of cantilever casting construction method has been studied, e.g. the general construction plan of cantilever system in the section construction by suspending cradle, fastening and suspending cradle system, and anchoring system (rock tunnel anchorage and prestressing anchorage). Meanwhile, a verification test of the arch design was done on the model with a scale of 1 to 5.In light of the above studies, the segmental cantilever casting construction method and its according design method are concluded on the construction of reinforced concrete arch bridges with long span in the mountainous regions. Various results from the study not only provide support and guidance to the design and construction of the backing project, but also offer good reference for construction of similar reinforced concrete arch bridges with long span in the mountainous district in China.
