In view of the disadvantages of the air source heat pump in heat supply and the characteristics of the application of solar assisted heat pump, the paper puts forward the mode of compound source heat pump using solar energy and air as heat source in parallel. The compound source heat pump unit has two parallel evaporators under heating condition and two parallel condensers under refrigerating condition. The heat pump runs under air source or solar energy - air compound source when heating. Then it has three running mode when refrigerating.The compound source heat pump unit was test for heating and refrigerating, with the results of refrigerating. capacity, heat output, system power and exhaust temperature under different testing and operation situation. According to these data, the performance of the compound source heat pump system was anlyzied. The testing results indicate that the performance of the compound source heat pump system is better than that of the air source heat pump system in general.The paper estabishs the mathematical model of four main components in heat pump and the steady-state simulation of the compound source heat pump system based on lunped parameter. The simulation program of the system is established by C language. It is proved that the simulation result is in accordance with testing data well.The simulation study of the compound source heat pump system is conducted. Then the paper optimizes the system by analyzing the performation of system for different water tank temperature.
