As a destructive and unpredictable natural disaster, the earthquake occurred that would cause huge loss of lives and property, in particular the damage of the bridges. Therefore, a comprehensive and systematic study of the bridge seismic conduct is very necessary. Moreover, with the development of express way construction in recent years gradually from plain-hill district to mountain-venturi district, more longger the span of bridges grow, more higher the bridge towers rise and more flexible the bridge system develops, so this long-span bridges on the seismic study put forward a number of new issues. In this paper the seismic response analysis of bridges at home and abroad are appraised and the following five aspects are mainly involved, i.e., seismic input, high-pier and long-span bridges finite element modeling and response spectrum analysis, the same incentive linear time-history analysis, the same incentive nonlinear time-history analysis, and non-uniform excitation earthquake response analysis. On the above research and basic tenets, a study of the high-pier and long-span continuous rigid frame bridge seismic response is conducted as Longtan River Bridge of Hurong Expressway for engineering background, including the following aspects.Firstly, based on the structure of the vibration characteristics, the response spectrum analysis method is used to study the seismic response of the structure with the two-dimensional and three-dimensional seismic input and vertical seismic analysis of the bridge structure are investigated.Secondly, in the aspect of consistent excitation linear time-history analysis, seismic waves on the importation of a comparison analysis, the seismic wave is inputted after adjustment for the same incentive linear time-history analysis, and the results are compared with its response spectrum method results.Again, considering the nonlinear factors of seismic response analysis, under the consistent excitation the nonlinear time-history elastic-plastic analysis is conducted with the introduction of plastic hinge unit, then the state of yielding plastic hinge is analyzed to discuss the structural dynamic elastic-plastic properties and seismic performance. Finally, considering non-consistent excitation traveling wave effect, the consistent excitation and non-consistent excitation earthquake acceleration time-history are inputted and the force reaction of the high piers under the different wave velocity are compared to explore earthquake response effects under the spatial variability of earthquake ground motions on the high piers in large-span bridges. At the end of the paper, the work in this paper is summarized and some conclusions about the study are drawn, besides, the further research problems are indicated.
