Environment pollution and ecological damage is one of the social serious problems to human beings. Both program developing and environment protecting become an significant issue of consistent economic development. For the project construction, it is a serious problem for the constructor to use resource rationally and protect the envirment.In the recent years, the exploitation of resources and the construction of frastructure expand at the speed which did not happen before. But on the other side, large scale of roads construction brings bad influence to the ecological environment. There is a lot of digging and filling which damage the intrinsic vegetation, and lead to lots of bare ground and rock slopes and lost of water and soil. Protecting slopes by ecological vegetation is new technology which uses the principle that ecological vegetation fixs rock slopes and makes the ecological environment beautiful. It is a synthetical technology which involves rock engineering, renewing ecology, botany and so on. At the times which people pay more and more attention to the harmony of ecological environment, ecological protecting technology becomes the trend of defending and represents the trend of slope protecting. Investigating on the research of the mechanical effects of roots can be used to analyze the shallow stability of slopes and provide as theoretical bases for choices of virescence mode.In this paper, research on domestic and foreign documentation about large-rootsecological protection and mechanical analysis slope, consider the Hubei Sui(Suizhou) - Yue (Yueyang) Expressway (middle) for the landscape design as thepractical engineering background, and in view of the current domestic vegetationrevetment mechanical effect of the gaps, make a series of discussions and research.First, based on the analysis of the ecological role of slope protection, composite materials science from the perspective of roots and soil will be considered in accordance with the laws of certain composite materials, and uses micro-mechanical analysis of the root soil compound basic strength and flexibility in Changshu, then explores the impact of two material(roots and soil) properties to the composite material.Secondly, through on-site and laboratory testing, studies the impact of root distribution density and distribution methods to root complex shear strength. The results show that soil-root complex still comply with Coulomb's law; root-soil complex cohesion and the incremen in the unit soil content directly proportional relationship, and the root system anchoring role formula is established based on this; Different distribution methods in root has different impact on the shear strength of composite material. Tthe tensile properties of the root accords with a certain law, and the further study of root can be made based on that.Finally, the result of the finite element analysis shows that the role of the grass-roots can reduce the stress level of shallow soil, that is, grass-roots can change the stress-strain state of the shallow soil; and the grass-roots increase the cohesion of the shallow soil which is beneficial to the edge slope stability.
