Local buckling may occur in web plates in I-girders subjected to bending, shear and patch loading. The computational formula for local stability of web was based on the assumption of infinite-elastic perfect plates in the steel structures design code (GBJ17-88).But in the revised code (GB50017-2003) this formula was made big change with reference early geometric imperfection and elastic-plastic buckling stage. so this paper adopted finite element method to make models and analyze , The influence of various geometric parameters (highness-to-thickness b/t, width-to-highness a/b and the distributed range of partial edge loading on beam web) are considered. The local buckling correlative formula for transverse stiffened web panels under combined stresses is verified, and the analysis had indicated this correlation formula might obtain the guarantee of security in the elastic stage, but in the elastic-plastic stage it is in favor of the unsafe tendency, so the suggestion correlation formula is proposed with reference elastic-plastic buckling and the distributed range of partial edge loading. The analysis to computed result indicated the suggestion correlation formula can provide reference for the engineering design.
