As the progress of technology and the scientific research, demand of simulation accuracy is higher and higher when we analyze the stability and frequency control quality of the electricity system. Being the main control system of the steam turbine, the speed governor system not only affects the economic and safety performance of the coal-combustion power plants, but also the frequency and power supply quality of the whole electricity system. So the accurate model parameters of turbine and speed governor system are especially important, needed to do experimental and model parameter identification research.After analyzing the structure of the steam turbine governor system, introducing the mathematical model of each part, we enumerate three kinds of electricity system simulation software and their recommending models, also a user-defined model base on real unit.Based on the models we choosed, the demand of model parameter identification and several times of experiments, we design an experiment method. The experiments we have done will also be introduced.Because of difficulties when we applied the conventional methods to identify these model parameters, such as strict demand of experimental signals, can't efficiently deal with the non-linear problem, some signals can't be measured, we adopted an identification method base on genetic algorithm, and solved these problems efficiently, gained a good simulation result.So, through this theme, we will get a complete flow of how to build the mathematic models, how to do the experiment, and how to identify the model parameters. All these things can benefit relative works and electricity power system simulation research.
