Reverse engineering as a new design method can do a lot of things in absorption domestic and international advanced technique, shorten the product's development period and lower the production cost. The Articulated Coordinate Measuring Machines (ACMM) put non-contact methods and tactile methods together perfectly; bring a new product to design, manufacturing and three dims measure mode. This thesis, based on a series of jobs of predecessor, do a lot of research on software and basic algorithm of newly developed ACMM.Firstly, the developing method and the architecture of PowerACMM-the software for Articulated Coordinate Measuring Machine is discussed. An evolutional flexible software developing process is adopted to develop such a complex system that many subjects are dubious or unknown before development. In analysis the process and main modular function of the measuring system, this paper abstracted the structure of hierarchies, designed key classes of the system. PowerACMM includes the mathematical module and relevant algorithm as follows.On the basis of D-H method, built the mathematical module and movement equation of probe end; and then designed a new calibration block for parameter calibration, with least square and iteration method , it has realized a fast and highly precise calibration of structure parameters and motion parameters .Parameter decision of laser scanner and 3D data matching base on image data collected by CCD, extracting useful information of image is critical task of system software. This paper discusses the image process algorithm in details and realizes them in software, puts forward an original algorithm which combines grade sharpen with barycenter method. It eradicates the effect of environment on measurement,as a result, its result reaches sub-pixel level.
