The engine cooling system is an important part of the internal combustion engine. It influences the engine's power , fuel consumption and the reliability. The radiator is a part of the engine cooling system. It is the exchange part between the engine and the ambient. Now many studies are work on the components of the cooling system including the radiator. With the new material and the new technology. How to produce the smaller volume , less net weight and low price the radiator is the purpose of the radiator company. The following works were done in this article by using theory analysis, the rig test and field test:1. Analysing the Cuprobraze technology and the splitter fins structure. The copper radiators are good at corrosion than the brazed aluminium radiators. So the braze copper radiator is used fargoing in the trucks. Cuprobraze is the latest technology for a new generation of heat exchangers, and many heat exchanger companies in the world use this technology. The overall high strength and durability of Cuprobraze heat exchangers are higher than that of soldered head exchangers and the brazed aluminium ones. The two strips from the fin strip decoiler are joined with tape. In the slitter the strip is divided into four widths. These four widths are led into the corrugating and forming the splitter fins. It has good heat transform performance.A well-designed copper brass radiator offers greater cooling efficiency, which means it, can provide the same cooling capacity in a smaller envelope.2 . Analysing the tube-fin radiator structure and the heat exchange. With brief explain the structure and principle of the radiator. The calculate method of the radiator heat transform area is Introduced. The influence factor and available ways to increase the radiator performance. The following ways are generalized for increasing the cooling efficiency: improving the heat transfer coefficient K , increase the ETD(the Entrance Temperature Difference) value , expanding the head transfer area , reducing the air side pressure drop, keeping the welding quality.3.The rig testAfter designing the radiator which keeping the same face area. The performance test was done on the rig equipment. The results show that the performance of the Cuprbraze radiator is better than the soldered radiator, It keeps the same level with the brazed aluminium radiator. Keeping the same air pressure drop It can increase 6% performance at least. The thinner core thickness the less material was used. It means low price. 4.The field testIt is necessary for a new radiator to do the field heat balance test. We do the field test on CA1258P11K2L7T1 heavy-duty truck. The test results show that the Cuprobraze splitter fins radiator can solved"the over heat problem"without changing any other cooling system components.
