Based on the state of the art of the compressive performance of concrete confined with carbon fiber composite sheets and the durability of structures strengthened with FRP, the behaviors of concrete confined with CFRP sheets under different environmental conditions are studied by experimental investigation and theoretical analysis. : . .Axially compressive tests of 670 concrete cylinders under different environments, which include standard curing, outdoor-with-rain, outdoor-without-rain, water and sulfate solution environment, were planned to study the long term performance of concrete confined with carbon fiber composite sheets. 270 Specimens were axially compressed after they have been processed for every 90 days. The environment influence on the strength of concrete wrapped with CFRP sheets is studied and the reasons for strength changing are discussed. Constitutive models of concrete wrapped with CFRP sheets under different environmental conditions are proposed based on the experiment results up to now. A numerical simulation method to calculate the response of eccentrically compressed reinforced concrete columns confined with CFRP sheets is developed, and the changes of bearing and deforming capacity of columus with the time are investigated considering the influence of the environment. The basic relationship between the ultimate bearing capacity of the columns and the eccentric ratio or concrete strength is studied through numerical simulation tests. |
