Eccentrically braced steel frame can provide high elastic stiffness and large inelastic energy dissipation capacity. Because link beams are separated from framing cross beams, Y-eccentrically braced steel frame has more special characters and will be applied widely in the future.ANSYS10.0 is applied in this paper, which is one of the finite element analytical software. A finite analytical model, which includes shell element applied to link beams with plastic deformation and beam element applied to other parts of structure, is used to analyze seismic behavior of Y-eccentrically braced steel frame. In the process of analyzing, material nonlinearity and P-Δeffect are considered, and main research content of this paper is as followed:1. Based on the currently code for seismic design of buildings and the working principle of eccentrically braced steel frame, the practical simplified design method of Y-eccentrically braced steel frame is presented.2. Elasto-plastic time history analysis is performed to a 18-story finite analytical model in No. 8 seismic fortification intensity region, which proved that Y-eccentrically braced steel frame has well seismic behavior.3. Dynamic performance research on multi-story and high-rise Y-eccentrically braced steel frames, in No. 8 and No. 9 seismic fortification intensity regions, is performed to investigate the effect of seismic behavior taking into account the parameters changing, such as length of link beams, height-thickness ratio of webs and arrangement of braces. At last, some seismic design suggestions for Y-eccentrically braced steel frame are presented.
