Nowdays, hydraulic engineerings are rapidly developing in our country, it has no mature experience in the design of these high dams and large-scale water-storage reserviors. it is difficult to keep scale consistent and change parameter in model tests. Numerical simulation is more and more important in hydraulic engineering design. Numerical simulation expands from 2D to 3D,from linear to nonlinear, from static to dynamic.It gives rise to the need for high-performance computation. Serial algorithm and relying on computers doesn't meet it. The algorithm of parallel finite element method is employed for solving the problems. It is of a tendency in numerical simulation.The algorithm of parallel finite element based on EBE method has good parallelism. It does not invoke topology of mesh or element ordering, global stiffness matrix does not need to be formed. It is appropriately applied to the design and research of large-scale hydraulic engineering with complicated domain.EBE technique is suitable for parallel computation in solving linear equations by PCG and in Radial Return algorithm for integration of constitutive relationship. Parallel elasto-plastic finite element program is developed by combined the Fortran and the MPI library and is applied to analysis of a water retaining dam.Today structure analysis is transmitting from continuous mechanics to discontinuous mechanics. Achievements in Computing Mechanics can be employed in parallel computation based on EBE because of its property of easily expansion. PFEM relying on cluster computer have good futures hydraulic engineering application and research.
