Gearbox is one of transmission installation which used widely in the mordern machine time, including speed reducer and speed-increasing gear. In the past, a lot of designers thought of tribology after finishing design of gear and rolling element bearing. But it is passive because the design situation has been decided according to old experience. Tribology design is put forward in the first stage of design in the paper. Tribology optimal design is done when gears and rolling element bearings are looked as a whole tribology system.At present, reducer has many disadvantages, such as volume, weight, losing efficacy for badly lubrication, or much lower efficiency from assignment of transmission ratio. Based on elastohydrodynamic lubrication, the lubrication of helical gear of the ZLY reducer with high- power is analyzed in this paper. Lubrication of gear, rolling element bearing and seal of gearbox are cosidered synthetically. Reasonable lubrication and sealer are put forward and tribology system frame of gearbox is established.In order to improve the reliability and the use life of speed reducer and cut down consumption of it, Optimization program is written with Matlab. The complex method is used to do optimization design to helical gear of the ZLY reducer with high-power. Target function and controlled condition based on tribology are set up according to different use condition. Several optimization project is put forward and ideal optimization result is attained.Currently, that using the wind power to generate electricity has already been into a high-speed development period in our country, but the damage of speed-increasing gear is very important to utilization ratio of wind turbine. To solve lubrication, maintenance and life of speed-increasing gear, tribology optimiazation design of it is done using the before program package, and the satisfied result is acquired. Relevant rolling element bearing and sealer are chosen according to long life and high reliability, which will have important theoretic meaning and engineering practical value to utilize the wind power resource much more efficiently.
