| Continuous-Conduction-Mode (CCM) is the preferred mode to boost converter at higher power levels. But the rectifiers in the continuous-conduction-mode produce significant reverse-recovery problems.Rectifier reverse-recovery problems cause a significant efficiency reduction as well as severe electromagnetic interference (EMI). To alleviate these problems, some ways have been promoted, such as to add the snubbers using an auxiliary switch or a passive snubber to shape the voltage and the current of the main switching device at turn-on and turn-off, this paper presents a simple and effective solution that involves shifting the original rectifier current to a new branch, which consists of a rectifier and a coupled winding of the boost inductor. In this paper, a new Double Boost converter is proposed employed one active switch, which can alleviate the rectifier reverse recovery problem by using leakage inductor of the two coupled winding, and zero current switching is achieved in the converter, Principles issues and design procedures are addressed. With the proposed concept, the efficiency of a 6 KW Boost converter is improved obviously. In order to fully utilize the inductors of the Doubly Salient Generators'inductor, a 6kW prototype is built with inductors of the Doubly Salient Generator in stead of the double boost converters inductor. |
