Inverters have been widely used in many fields including uninterrupted power supply(UPS), aeronautical static inverter(ASI), and the development of new energy sources such as wind energy and solar energy. It is made significant practical sense that the performance improvement of the inverters. In this thesis, a 6kVA single-phase inverter is developed. The circuit topology uses the dual-buck inverter(DBI). The configuration and control scheme of DBI is quite simple, and it is free from shoot-through problem. Also, power switches and power diodes in DBI can be designed separately, so that it can realize the optimum design of power devices with reduced system loss. A hysteresis-band instantaneous current control PWM technique is used in the DBI, so that the inverter has the advantages of simplicity of control implementation, fast current control response, and inherent peak current limiting capability. Each bridge of the inverter works in half cycle respectively, and can turn over naturally, to maintain high efficiency during the working of the inverter. The dual-buck inverter scheme is described, operating principles of CCM and DCM are given, compare of the characteristic between the dual-buck inverter and the half-bridge inverter are given, the schemes of induction current feedback are discussed, and the stiffness and stability of the system with the feedback of load current are analyzed. The design process and results for main parameters in the developed inverter are given in detail.
