Composite cable-stayed bridge is a new kind of cable-stayed bridge with perspective future. The joint between the steel box-girder and the concrete box-girder is the key technology by which the composite cable-stayed bridge will be designed. So the research on the working behavior and the stiffness matching of the joint between two kinds of material box-girders will have important theoretic significance and reference value for practical application.In this paper, the history of composite cable-stayed bridge was reviewed and the traits and virtues of composite cable-stayed bridge were analyzed in detail. The structural form and the behavior of force transmission at the joint in all kinds of composite cable-stayed bridge were summarized systematically. Based on the joint model test and the analysis of the experimental data, the behavior of each parts of the joint working together and the way of force transmission and distribution regulation at each load condition were explained.Computing of simulation of the joint was done through the finite element analysis method, aimed at analyzing the influence on force transmission of different stiffness matching over the girder of two different materials. Establishing the first model of the joint by actual size of the bridge, then establishing the other five models based on model one through changing the quantity of concrete filled and the size of rib stiffener on steel box-girder. Based on the comparison between the compute results of the six models, the best stiffness matching of this joint is presented. In the end, the validation of the security of the optimal design of the joint is provided. The stress distribution in the vicinity of the joint and the resistance of craze are analyzed.
