This research programe is a part of the Ministry of Water Resources'948 Plan, namely innovation and transformation projects,study on water retention agent of eco-concrete.With the great demand in materials with the benefits to environment conservation, ecological variousness and continuable ,ecological concrete is regarded as one kind of the environmental-friendly ecological concrete increasingly. Ecological concrete contains a partical system of continuous porous structure. And the continuous porous structure provides the possibility of excellent permeability and ventilation of concrete. Therefore green plants are able to grow directly on the surface of the ecological concrete.The permeability of ecological concrete is even better ordinary soil with comparing both permeability coefficients by apparatus made in our lab. It's drawn form the experimental research that mineral addition replacing cement reduces pH value in concrete. For instance, with the addition of silicon fume, the pH value of ecological concrete reduces to 10 below. The investigation achievement e fulfills the criteria of ecological concrete.The performance of holding water of ecological concrete is researched for the first time. Through the test of water absorbing, water holding and water releasing performances of all water retention agents, sawdust, vinegar stillage and cabbage palm, this paper points out the affect on ecological concrete of different water retention agent and also conclude the affect on ecological concrete holding water or water releasing of spacing ratios, water retention agents, materials addition and different stones.The water-supply measures of ecological concrete are pilot study. The water-supply measures consist of ground water-supply, upground water-supply and underground water-supply.The ecological concrete and the compatibility of the plants indicated that the growth of the plant is sameness on different thickness concrete condition or different plants in the same concrete board and different plants in concrete cube. Further more, the plants grow well in the ecological concrete. Its root has drilled through the continuous pores of the concrete. The snails have been found in the brushwood planted in the concrete. It indicates that the ecological concrete can be in harmony with the nature.
