According to the current study status and needs with the program, this paper mainly study annual runoff simulation and analysis in the source area of Yellow River. It belongs to one part of the source area of the Yellow River comprehensive programming. In view of the characters of the source area, the method is to combine Xinanjiang model with snowmelt runoff model and apply to the basin of Baihe. The basin is divided into several sub-basins. First, distinguishing snowfall from rainfall by temperature in every sub-basin, then combine model is carried on the rainfall-runoff calculation. Using the Muskingum method performs channel routing. Thus, the method is viable, but the area of basin is large, the number of hydrologic station is short and the bases are little, which affect the accuracy of simulation. In this paper, in order to analyze the annual runoff change source area is divided into three parts, which are Huangheyan, Maqu and Tangnaihai. Wavelet translation method is used to analyze time series and annual runoff series of the source area. Several results are drawn. The results show the detail characteristics of annual mean discharge change at different time scales, such as multi-scale change structures, the period surge, the position and distribution of break points. And the future annual runoff change can be predicted according to the main periods that get from wavelet variance.
