With the demand of consumers becoming divers gradually, the competition among automobile enterprise turns much fiercer. And it is very urgent for these enterprises to solve the problems such as how to shorten the design cycle, reduce the design cost and enhance the efficiency of design. The appearance of CSCD (Computer Supported Cooperative Design) supplies a technological foundation for the enterprise to solve above problems; it enables these enterprises to develop new products quickly so as to meet the needs of customers and survive in the violent market. In order to enable it, this thesis mainly researches on the approach to constructing synchronized collaborative design platform within heterogeneous CAD systems to every spare part supplier of automobile enterprises may adopt different CAD system.A Neutral Feature Object based approach to building up a synchronized collaborative design platform upon heterogeneous CAD systems is proposed. It can make the CAD systems support the activity of synchronized collaborative design. And the constructible principles of Neutral Feature Object are given. This method exchanges the feature operation of the CAD system real time through Neutral Feature Object, and it can solve effectively the problem which the heterogeneous CAD system has different data structure and modeling operation. The structure and sub-module of the Exchange-Feature are designed elaborately. Moreover, the problem that the CAD Feature Object (CFO) can't match with Nature Feature Object (NFO) has been researched and discussed.Furthermore, the database for the need of collaborative design platform is designed, and a better method memorizing the temporary and final version of part models based on NFO and STEP files respectively is proposed. The method not only makes the design of parts un-continually but also ensures the CAD model of parts can be integrated better with downstream software. Finally, a prototype system of synchronized collaborative is constructed. Meanwhile, a synchronized collaborative design instance of a rocker arm part is performed and the validity of approach in this paper is certified.
