Nowadays basic urban traffic establishments suffer great pressure by rapid development of economy and urbanization. At the same time, low efficiency and management disadvantage make it more difficult caused by the shortage of transport facilities. Therefore, it's great significance to develop"Intelligent Transportation Systems". Vehicle location and navigation system, which belongs to the research category of the"Intelligent Transportation System", is an important ITS application system in great demand, and is also one of the efficient methods to solve the urban traffic problems recognized by the international. Its main function is to give drivers the vehicle location, vehicle speed, vehicle direction and the geographical information of the surrounding, and to guide drivers to reach their destinations rapidly, safely, accurately by the electronic maps.The two dimensional digital map is the most important information platform for the vehicle navigation systems, and the vehicle location, route planning and route guidance are based on the platform. Aimed at the characteristics of the vehicle navigation system, the paper studied the data structure, data generation and realized the roam, zoom and hawk eyes of the two-dimensional electronic map based on MapInfo and MapX control.The Road traffic network of urban is more and more complex day by day, the existing two-dimensional electronic map isn't able to reflect the staggered relations of the roads direct-viewing and the vehicles navigation system based on the two-dimensional electronic map appears helplessly facing the route guiding of the complex crossings. The paper studies the route navigation technique in vehicle navigation system, establishes three dimensional virtual scenes of the complex crossings based on MultiGen Creator and studied the optimization and the key technologies of virtual scene Construction, realized the scene roaming of the assigned route based on Vega. The dynamic response between the two-dimensional electronic map and three dimensional virtual scenes is realized in case of Changsha Chixin road overpass. It will fully combine the entirely, macrograph of two-dimensional electronic map and the direct-viewing understandability of the local three dimensional virtual scenes for enhancing the guidance efficiency of the existing vehicles navigation system. Consider the convenience and driving safety of the vehicle's navigation system, the paper discusses the necessary for voice navigation. Nowadays, mainly include the turning information, dynamic information guidance, the facilities information prompt and departure route guidance function and so on. In addition, the development of speech recognition technology will make the computer-interactive voice applications become more popular.
