With the development of China's power industry, more and more Flexible Ac Transmission System (in short 'FACTS') equipments will be applied into power systems. These FACTS equipments will enhance running stability of the system, but the interactions between them may cause instability of FACTS' control. So it is necessary and meaningful to study the causes of the interactions between the FACTS controllers.Usually, FACTS controllers are designed under SISO condition, according to the research studied by some lecturer: there could be interactions between the FACTS controllers in the complicated power systems, these interactions could make the controllers unstable, so to cope with the side-effects caused by these interactions, there should be some work which can fully analyze the characters of the interactions, and analyze the relationship between electrical variables to the interactions. This paper builds a linear model of the multi-machines power system which consists of STATCOM and TCSC. Upon this model, the mathematic relationships between STATCOM and TCSC can be easily known. In the two area four machines power system, the interactions between FACTS controllers will be constructed by MATLAB software by non-linear simulation method. By using the relative gain array analysis, the paper gets the result that: the interactions between the FACTS controllers increase when the distances decrease. To solve the questions lay above, this paper expounds an adaptive single neutron algorithm controller based on genetic algorithms. By simulation, the novel controller can obviously make the STATCOM work in a stable condition. The designing method gives an updated way to designing other FACTS controllers.
