With the rapid development of national economy, traffic, vehicle speed and weight are increasing fast. It is very serious that bridges are destroyed more or less because of the damage of bridge joints in China.Jointless bridge has a bright future because it has much merit, such as low cost of bridge maintenance, improved traveling environment, reduced vehicle impact to bridge and extended usage of bridge. But there are only few examples of the design and construction of jointless bridges, and theory research of jointless bridge is later than engineering practice. Furthermore, it is still in the developing and research stage for there are a lot of factors impacting the mechanics of jointless bridge. It is very common to find bridges with skew angles in engineering practice while current analysis and research are mainly about jointless bridge without skew angles, so it is inconvenient to design, apply and spread the jointless bridges.Based on the research results of jointless bridge without skew angles and the documents of general jointless bridge support with medium and small span and continuous solid slab bridge, this paper analyze the loaded behavior of integral abutment slab bridges with skew angles under temperature load.The main contents of the paper are described as follows:1. Discuss the important and difficult problems in design and study of integral abutment bridge, and analyze the loaded behavior of main parts.2. Considering the interaction between soil and structure, the finite element models for integral abutment slab bridges with skew angles are presented.3. Using finite element software-Ansys, the space grillage models of integral abutment slab bridges with skew angles, which has 13m equal span, reinforced concrete, solid slab section, are presented. Based on that, the loaded behavior of main beam and foundation of pile under different temperature load are compared; the effect of the loaded behavior and thermal deformation of main beam and the loaded behavior of foundation of pile with different length, skew angles and parameters of substructure under temperature load is analyzed, and some conclusions for the design of integral abutment bridges are made from comparing with those joint bridges.The paper will contribute to the spreading of the jointless bridges with medium and small span.
