Simulating random movement of sea wave in the towing tank and making researches into the action of sea wave on coastal and offshore structures could provide the reliable basis for engineering design and scientific experimentation. The multi-directional wavemaker is the key problem for the realization of the physical model test.There are three main parts in the paper: According to wave theory, analyzed the character of regular and irregular waves and the relationship of parameters of wave; Using an array consisting of 4 wave gauges in the towing tank, the directional spectrum of wind wave in different data number and different time step are systematically investigated. Using three estimate methods, maximum likelihood method(MLM),extended maximum likelihood method(EMLM),extended maximum entropy principle method(EMEP) analyzed the directional spectrum of real wave data. Contrasting with the work of before, educed my own conclusion.The test result indicate that it is able to competent at wave simulation of sea wave spectrum for shipmodel test, and can simulate different wave spectrum in different request. And hanve established the foundation for the quality of improving the scientific research and experiment teaching further.
