Poyang Lake is located in the middle and lower reaches Of Yangtze River, north of Jiangxi Province's. She is one of lakes that connecting with Yangtze River. The lake gives a unique prospect that it is like a lake during a rise of water, while like a river during a fall of water; and shows mass during flood, while showing linear during drought. Influenced by the Yangtze River flood and the Poyang Lake basin flood, Poyang lake basin becomes the area that is easily hit by flood. This research based on the historical records of the hydrological characteristic in the basin, analysis the hydrology in Poyang Lake, to find the reason that caused floods, make some suggestion to alleviate the damage of the floods, to promote the sustainable development of the Poyang Lake area.In view of the Poyang Lake hydrology characteristic, this article give a deep analysis from the Poyang Lake water level rule, the runoff rule, the silt rule to the lake water level. Enable us to have a more further detailed understanding to the Jiangxi Poyang Lake's hydrology characteristic. Get rational knowledge Poyang Lake hydrology characteristic, analyzes its existence the question, in order to promptly take the corresponding countermeasure. Simultaneously also unifies the same time interval the remote sensing data to conduct the research, to using Poyang Lake Landsat the TM/ETM remote sensing image to conduct the computer automatic sorting technology, using supervision classification and non-supervision classification technology to processing the remote sensing image. Further more, I conducted visual interpretation at the last of the data processing. Extracting the flooded area of the lake districts, made correlation analysis between the flooded area and the water level data from the mail hydrometric stations of the Poyang lake.This article has the main conclusion:1. Poyang Lake flood tendency: Water level obviously elevates, the big flood remarkably increases, the rivers and lakes flood bitter experience frequency enlarges, the disaster flood successive year increase, the catastrophic flood cycle reduces.2. Poyang Lake Runoff quite stable, increase runoff mainly come from the Ganjiang River ,Xinjiang and Raohe. Sediment discharge from Ganjiang River has t dropped, that is because several large-scale reservoirs establishments (for example the Wan An reservoir).No dramatic change of sediment discharge in other rivers.3. There is the remarkablest correlativity between water level observed in Dou Chang hydrology station and Poyang lake water area among all Poyang lake hydrology stations. Water boundary and hydrology observation database distilled by remote sensing can be used in risk drawing of floodwater disaster map in alluvium plain successfully.
