Tianshan Road locates in the western Tianshan mountain, where is high altitude and alpine regions. On account of limited time of highway construction, we can hardly explore geologic status and rock mass mechanic character for all slopes in detail, before a stability analysis. More than 100 highway slopes collected from Tianshan road are analyzed statistically in this paper. A new slope stability system TSMR (Tianshan Slope Mass Rating), improved from SMR-CSMR, is given here.In SMR system, the relation between discontinuities and slope freeing face was considered, so was excavating method. However, slope height was omitted in this system. Based on SMR, CSMR system has adopted slope height coefficient, to show the relation between slope height and slope stability. However, the coefficient is unreasonable to highway slope, so CSMR is higher on average. Based on the climate character of Tianshan region and after a mechanical analysis, slope height coefficient was updated by statistical means. The amended coefficient is more effective for evaluating theeffect of highway slope height. This system of rock mass quality classification (TSMR) adopts the coefficient of freeze-thaw and amends the system of slope quality classification formerly in allusion to the high altitude and alpine regions. Characterized by convenience, TSMR system can satisfy preliminary stability evaluation to Tianshan road.Based on usual support method applied in the field of road, this paper gives more particular and systemic advice to slope prevention. Compared to else methods, the result shows that TSMR is more reasonable to actual slope...
