Structuring The Logos Of The Intermediary Idea On The Meaning Of Space Interface

The course of studying architecture space runs through the whole developing history of the human civilization. Although the human demands for space vary in their own manners because of different space conceptions and cultures in different periods and regions, there have been certain of common properties on structural arrangement. The various increasing contradictions always exist between human and space due to the diversity of modern architecture space and the level of human demand. The resulting interaction of human and space is characterized by the interactive communicating phenomenon and process of space information. The key to reconcile and resolve the contradiction of things is to find a proper approach. As an important philosophical idea of the dialectical materialist theory of knowledge, the intermediary idea is a method or attitude for treating contradiction based on the materialist dialectics, and is, therefore, greatly significant in methodology. Moreover, the intermediary thinking under guidance of the intermediary idea is one of thinking modes of the Marxist dialectical materialism. To really and truly realize the contradiction of things itself, we must systematically grasp and completely study its every aspect, every relationship, and "intermediary" with the dialectical logic of the materialist dialectics. Thus the purpose to study "space interface" as the material manifestation of space intermediary is to reconcile and resolve the ubiquitous contradiction in architecture space more effectively.The space interface is the intermediary link between the interactions of space contradictions as well as an intermediate arrangement or stage on space creation. By wielding the intermediary thinking, the systematic and dialectical study on space interface benefits us not only to grasp the primary contradictions from the combinations of abstract space and the complex shapes of concrete environment, but also to establish the materialistic and dialectic idea system on architecture design, In the present study, the thesis adopts the systematic method to introduce the philosophical theory of intermediary idea into the study areas of modern space, and then combines the theoretical explorations with the case studies in order to detailedly demonstrate the important value and effect of the space interface to serve as the intermediary of communicating space information, experiencing and creating space in the study of architecture space by commencing with the historical development of architecture and the background of idea and culture on space interface. Furthermore, the logos of the intermediary idea on the meaning of space interface is systematically structured on the foundation of making the deep and objective analyses of the intermediary thinking to sublimate to the rational knowledge. Finally, the study forms a kind of intermediary thinking pattern on the design of architecture space, and thereby brings us some design techniques of interface on enclosing and limiting, leading and organizing of space aspects in an attempt to provide the much more vital and creative imagination in architecture design practices for the construction of the entirety of modern environment and place, or the continuity of culture and history.
