In recent years, the loss and conservation question of soil and water is gradually being a new subject. The prediction of soil and water loss in expressway construction is required by Technical regulation on water and soil conservation plan of development and construction projects, which mainly use mathematic model method, field test method and analogism. Studied in this thesis are the key issues related to the loss and conservation of soil and water in Yanhai expressway construction which is one of major engineering projects. On the basis of the soil and water loss states along the expressway line are detailed investigated. Then, basic prediction contents and methodologies to soil and water loss are examined. Analogism is adopted in prediction method to soil and water in Yanhai expressway construction, which is used to predict and analyse the newly extra soil and water loss according to different districts. The prediction results show that main work area and soil-fetching area are the most serious soil and water areas. For these preventive areas, the perfect precaution measures for preventing the soil and water loss d are taken.A number of vegetal cover measures are used in the design scheme of preventing soil and water loss in Yanhai expressway construction, which is the instruction to the construction of protective cover of vegetation. The vegetal cover bioengineering protection is studied in this thesis. Firstly, the feasibility of adopting vegetal protection is explained theoretical trough analyzing herbage root-soil mutual mechanics action. Then, on the basis of the Ansys finite software which is been used to simulate the single-axial compression test of soil and single-root, twin-root, multi-root composite. According to the test results, herbage roots can strength soil, and this effect is more obvious with the increasing number of herbage roots.
