Based on the home and abroad, the real time and accuracy of dynamic traffic information is the key of Intelligent Transportation System(ITS). Dynamic traffic information detection is essential to modern traffic management, control, guidance and planning. Existing approaches to detect traffic condition provide traffic data only at particular points along the roads and can perform limited range. As a result, such approaches can not perform well in modern traffic development. Moreover, the implementation and maintenance of such equipment can be costly. So, as the vehicles equipped with GPS receiver have increased in past few years, a new way to collect traffic data is the floating vehicles.At the present time, the signalized intersection performance indexes are mainly decided by the delay time. Vehicle delay at the signalized intersection is the important measure of performance efficiency and server quality. It reflects not only the drivers discomfort, restrain, oil consume, time lose, but also reflects the logical of signal control and design. But, at present, the computation of delay only limited the method which calculates to the traditional formula computation method as well as the scene experiment. We can see through the former computation experience, these two methods need more parameters and its quite time-consuming and takes the trouble in the computation process, facing the floating vehicle feedback data, domestic and foreign already started to make the massive data mining, analysis as well as processing work, therefore, it is necessary to propose a kind of estimated method to compute the intersection delay using the floating vehicle data.The research described in this paper is concerned with estimating link time delay of urban signalized intersection from traffic data that collected by existing floating vehicles in city. The propose of the paper is to get rid of the tradition method, and proposed a new method to estimated delay using the floating vehicle data. This method use existing floating vehicle data, and analysis existing electron map and withdraws the intersection information, it will examine the arc matches, then the computation will obtain the intersection delay.The paper constitutes of six parts. The first is a summary, which simply introduces the study background, contents, clue and technical route. The second part mainly reviewed the study history and actualities. Stressed introduction two parts of contents transportation information collection and the existing intersection evaluation indexes. In the third part, the delay process at signalized intersection is mainly analyzed, defines the range and the Expedite travel speed of the signalized intersection, it lay a foundation for the flow of the signalized intersection delay. The forth part analyzes the material contents of the flow. First is distinguishes intersection information from road section information out of the primitive electronic map and select the intersection information only. Secondly, carries on the analysis to the floating vehicle unit. The time delay of a floating vehicle passing a signalized intersection is estimated by an algorithm, which integrates GPS positional data of the vehicle and the intersection node positional data in GIS map. The fifth part validates the flow based on the real data. At last, the paper work and finding are summarized. The future work is also suggested.
