Arch dam abutment stability is directly related to arch dam safety. Combining with the topic of 973 projects "the overall system stability of multi-factor interactions geological engineering " (2002CB412707) and the National Natural Science Foundation of the Yalong River hydropower development joint research fund, projects "large landslide warning and control of high rock slope instability" (50539110), aiming at arch dam abutment stability monitoring and evaluation, based on finite element analysis of stability and the measured displacement with deformation, the dam abutment stability of the evaluation method is researched. Major contents of this paper are as follows:(1)The elastic-plastic finite element theory and the analysis method of abutment stability is researched. The commonly used criterion of instability is compared and analyzed. Based on the strength reserve method and catastrophe theory, the cusp catastrophe model of displacement -safety coefficient is established. The catastrophe model method of instability criterion of displacement is put forward. (2)After lucubrating the hierarchical model and the statistical model, a model of integration advantages of both time varying parameters regression model is established. By analyzing space characteristics of abutment deformation, the space- time-variant model of abutment deformation is constructed.(3)The basic principles of inversion arch dam abutment physical and mechanical parameters using space abutment deformation field are analyzed, then BP neural network parameters inversion method based on the deformation field is established. After finite element principles of abutment stability are analyzed, ANN model of analyzing abutment stability is established on the basis of deformation. The method of analyzing abutment stability is brought forward based on the measurement of the displacement field.(4)Taking Lijiaxia arch dam as an example, the space- time-variant model of abutment deformation is established, the mechanical parameters are inversed. Using the dam foundation cusp model as a failure criterion, it determine the relationship of strength reserve coefficient K and the critical displacement field. Then ANN model of the arch dam abutment stability based on the deformation is established to analyze the abutment stability of lijiaxia dam.
