With the development of social economic and the improvement of people's living standards, electric power demands are increasing and the conflict between electric power supply and demand becomes more acute. As a non-engineering measure that can generate extra electrical energy, optimal operation of reservoir is being concerned more widely. Optimal operation model and algorithm for hydropower station of multi-reservoir was analyzed in the dissertation.It proposed improved genetic algorithm aimed at optimal operation model of reservoir and multi-reservoir. According to initial population producing method, select operator, variation operator, and two kinds of modes were designed based on the model self-characteristic. Different modes of three operators combined with each other and built self model base. Through optimal calculation, it searched for genetic algorithm model adapted to optimal hydropower station of reservoir and multi-reservoir. Initial stage constraint and term end stage constraint were applied to code and design of genetic operator, which simplified the algorithm design. Relationship coding mode was designed in the multi-reservoir coding.It proposed four indexes to evaluate the performance of genetic algorithm, including off-linear, optimal value, and anomaly value and calculation time. It also researched the impression of parameter on the performance of genetic algorithm, which was the foundation of building parameter optimization genetic algorithm. The optimal parameter combination was solved by employing model, which was adopted to calculate reservoir genetic algorithm and multi-reservoir genetic algorithm separately under the different water level accuracy for Chi-tan hydraulic power stationt and step-reservoir in Jin-xi river basin, and received a better result.
