Magnetic polymer microsphere is a kind of microsphere with magnetism and special structure, which is composed of inorganic magnetic material and polymer prepared by special polymerization method. It can not only be endowed with functional group by copolymerization and surface modification, but also be separated quickly and easily from mixture by exterior magnetic fields. Therefore, since 1970, magnetic polymer microsphere as a new type of functional material has further broad application in the fields of biomedicine, cell, bioengineering and stealth technology.How to improve the monodispersity and magnetic responsibility of magnetic polymer microsphere and develop new synthesis method is challenge with which the researchers have to be faced. Based on the summery of the research of magnetic polymer microsphere worldwide, at first, monodisperse magnetic polymer microsphere with glycidyl group was prepared by soap-free emulsion polymerization and study kinds of reactive effects, then, in the view of the problem, iron oxide was modified by amphilic polymer containing methyl styrene, do elementary research of polymerization initiated by modified iron oxide. Results are as follow1. Iron oxide was synthesized by the traditional method of the chemical co-precipitation and modified by sodium oleate, the dispersion of iron oxide in water was improved.2. Monodisperse magnetic Polymer microsphere with core-shell structure was prepared by soap-free emulsion polymerization, results show magnetic polymer microsphere have superparamagnetic properties and its saturated magnetic intensity of magnetic polymer microsphere can attain 12.62 emu per gram.3. With increase of ferrofluid in the polymerization system, Size of magnetic polymer microsphere decreased from 194 nanometers to 60 nanometers, iron oxide weight and saturated magnetic intensity increase. Size of magnetic polymer microsphere not only decrease from 115 nanometers to 85 nanometers with increase of hydrophilic monomer(HEMA) contents but also affected unconspicuous by initiator contents.4. Iron oxide which was modified by amphilic polymer with methyl styrene can disperse in organic solvent.
