A comprehensive and detailed discussion about constructing deep-water bridge foundations is made on its development, present status and various types in both at home and abroad , and various types. Adequate examples are listed, and a detailed explanation is supposed to introduce three commonly used construction types, including steel sheet-pile cofferdam, double-wall steel casing box-cofferdam, steel suspension box-cofferdam.On the basis of reconstruction project aiming to expand its capacity in Dongjiang Bridge along the Qiangui Railway, focusing on the double-wall steel cofferdam ,its theoretical design, structure computation, stress analysis, and series of processes including machining, locating, submerging, leakage stopping, floor sealing, and clearing, and construction matters needing attention are systematically analyzed and studied. Combining case study about a new process using insert plate in Meijiang Bridge project along Yuhuai Railway and in reconstruction project aiming to expand its capacity in Dongjiang Bridge along Qiangui Railway, its process is expatiated, its presentation and back ground is explained, its theoretical design, structure types, stress analysis are computed and finally its economic returns and social returns are analyzed.The new process using interpolated plate has been applied in the construction of many deep-water foundations, showing advantages of accelerating construction process and saving investment. This process has passed checks done by development organizations, and created good social and economic benefits. It is proved that, in real cases on special river bed, construction program combining double-wall steel cofferdam and the new process using interpolated plate studied in this paper is reasonable and feasible. Research finding in this paper is of reference value to similar constructions in later stages.
