In China, Non-Solid Grounded system is widely used in 6~35KV medium and low voltage distribution networks. The probability of single phase to ground fault is the highest. It is well known that to detect the fault and identify faulty line is very difficult due to weak steady state fault current and unstable fault arc. This paper put the emphasis on the fault line selection methods which based on the transient information, the design and working situation of the device. The basic principle and signals regular of fault line selection which based on the transient information are analyzed, the solution of each question in the practical application is given. With the scene working record, the scene standard in the fault line selection is proposed. The simulation and the scene examination rate have both indicated that the methods is feasible and should carry on the promotion in Non-Solid Grounded system.
