With the development of high velocity, strong power and heavy load of modern automotive, the more rigorous requirements of automotive braking friction material should be meeted. Phenolic resin is normally used as binding constitute in the vehicle friction material, but its weak heat-stability can't stand more serious working enviorment. How to improve the heat-stability of phenolic resin with modification by adding other contents is an important development direction. The discovery of nano-material provides a new way for polymer modification. Because the polymer has good properties, such as mechanics, calorific, optics, electricity and magnetism, it can be used to make up many new multif-unction materials. Main works in the present research are as following: (1) The effects of Nano-particles on tribo-properties and heat-stability of NBR modified phenolic resin; (2) The effects of coupling agent modified-nano-particles on frictional behavior and heat-stability of NBR modified phenolic resin; (3) The optimum recipes of NBR modified phenolic resin modified by nano-particles and coupling agent modified-nano-particles were drawn by analyzing the results of tribo-properties, TG tests and SEM observation of fracture surfaces; (4)The new friction materials binded by NBR modified phenolic resin with nano-particles and coupling agent modified-nano particles had been fabricated and their tribo-properties were tested.
