The overall stable of steel beam is important aspect in structure design. In this paper, the integrated use of theoretical analysis, finite element modeling, more systematic study of the issue. The sections' shape of the beam in the steel structure is mostly I. With thinking of the strength factor, it's necessary to make the beam web high and thin. To raise the overall stable of steel beam, we always lay some transverse stiffeners on the web, and also lay some longitudinal stiffeners sometime. At present, there are no information or specification on studying the channel stiffener of the thinned-web beam systemically. And there are a small few literatures related on overall stable of steel beam and laying of the channel stiffeners of the thinned-web beam. and the design method is not available. Therefore the designs of stiffeners in the structures mostly depend on engineers' experience, then lead to the using stiffeners' stiffness and section are bigger. That make the waste of material too much and the design maybe not available. This main objective of this thesis is to determine the effect to overall stability of steel beams when the channel stiffeners is set on different locations and stiffness. In this thesis the FEM is used to analyze the characteristic of typical biaxial-symmetry I-section steel beam under different loads, including concentrated load, uniformly distributed load and uniform moment. This paper introduces the Channel with stiffening rib Beam capacity of formula, The calculation results with the finite element results were compared to verify its correctness. Finally, the finite element analysis of channel steel stiffening rib stiffness, location, spacing of the elasto-plastic steel capacity impact; As well as several different forms of stiffening rib for the FEM analysis of the correlation curve and conclusions, for reference works.Through the study in this thesis it is hoped to improve stability theory of steel beams and offer a reference to the calculation of buckling strength of steel beams with lateral stiffeners.
