Recently along with the development of the stealth technology, the sound level of the low-noise submarines' radiated noise is close to the environmental noise of the ocean, so the measurement of the radiated noise becomes very difficult. The development of the vector hydrophone brings the new method to the measurement of low-noise target radiated noise.In this paper .it was introduced about the mechanics and characteristics of the radiated noise of the submarine, the measuring methods .together with the assistant methods .The components of the noise measuring system centered on the vector hydrophone are introduced in detail, as well as the working procedure of every part.In this paper, two passive ranging algorithms based on single hydrophone were studied: improved passive ranging used single hydrophone and Dopplerlet range estimation of the moving target. In the algorithm of improved passive ranging used single hydrophone, it simulated the range of the target used the pressure and used the pressure associated with the velocity. From the results we conclude that the latter result excel the former result. The algorithm of Dopplerlet range estimation of a moving vessel is used to deal with the line Spectrum .Although the calculation of the algorithm is very large, it can calculate the range of target at high accuracy under the condition of SNR below -10dB.
