This paper analyzed the actual needs of small transformer stations, and described the design and development of the configuration software which is applicable to the small transformer stations. The design and development based on OOP and VC+ +.First of all, the architecture of software was built by analysis of the special needs to small transformer stations monitoring and controlling. We give full consideration to design of the system maintainability and expansibility. Each module with high degree of independence and standardized data interface. The design laid the foundation of further development and improvement for configuration software.Communication is the basis of the software. This paper described a design agreement that communication layer into communication port layer and user protocol layer. In communication port layer, the paper defined base class of communication ports and detailed the realization of the serial communication. In user protocol layer, the paper gave a detailed analysis of all basic characteristics of communication equipments, and defined base class of the communication unit. The paper analyzed the characteristics of Master-Slave communication protocol and defined base class of the protocol. The paper details the realization of Modbus protocol and RC3000 protocol. It also gave the solution for the bus competition and introduced the realization of communication thread.We analyzed the design scheme of definite value setting module. The data structure of the definite value was defined. We have designed a beautiful and friendly HMI. To the stability and security needs of definite value operations, the paper gave the corresponding solution.Power fault waveform recurrence and analysis module is an important function module of the software system. We finished the design of communication and storage for the power fault recording data. The frame of the analysis module was SDL The module had the function such as data query, waveform display, waveform color setting, waveform zoom, etc. The paper also introduced the design of the data-base.The software has been used in actual projects. It is stable and reliable, consistent with the design requirements, and applied to the actual needs of small transformer stations monitoring and controlling well.
