With the development of economy in the recent 20 years, our country's urbanization has sped up obviously. Because cities have become more and more crowded, traffic blocks and inconvenient outgoing bother people living in cities. In order to solve the problem of inconvenient outgoing, advanced countries experience was used for reference by us. In result, track transportation has gradually become the new breakthrough of developing city traffic system in our country. But as an important part of social common traffic system, how to meet people' outgoing needs as much as possible is a big problem in developing our city track transportation.The thesis tries to solve this problem by making use of universal design theory. Universal design is a new design trend of thought, which's concept was brought forward specifically in 1980s in USA. Up to now, universal design has become a noticeable trend and power in European and American design circles, and enriched the connotation of industrial design. This thesis firstly expounds the concept and basic principle of universal design, and analyzes the relation between universal design and non-barrier design. Meanwhile, this thesis points out that the principle of universal design is fair participation, equity and democracy, and people-oriented.This thesis also analyzes the behavioral and mental characters with universal design theory, and classifies people into healthy, elder, handicapped, vision-impediment, hearing- impediment, intellect- impediment, pregnant women and children. Though the analysis of passenger flux, universal design theory is used to do city track vehicle inter design, such as traffic system, common guide system and lighting system, etc. At last, this thesis discusses and analyzes the methods, purpose and contents of city track vehicle design from the angle of common design, provides some instructive reference and data for city track vehicle design, offers reference of design theory and practice to industrial designers.
