In recent years, with the growing quantity of concrete structures and its lifetime, it becomes serious issue gradually that the structural durability has decreased by the corrosion of steel bar. With Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) bar instead of steel bar used in the concrete structure to solve the above problem is an effective method. The majority of domestic research about GFRP reinforced concrete structure pay attention to the destruction of its right section only, and very few to the destruction of its diagonal section. Therefore, it is of great theoretical and practical value to study the shear resistance properties of GFRP reinforced concrete members. In this article ,the shear resistance properties of GFRP reinforced concrete members are studied from four aspects ,which is the theory, the experiment, the finite element analysis, the project apply . It gives a series of formulas about shear strength, and carried on the mutual confirmation to them. Major research contents and contributions are as follows:1. The article presents the current research status about the shear resistance properties of concrete members ,and gives the theoretical formula about shear strength. In comparison to the test results, the accuracy and reliability of the method in the thesis are tested.2. The article presents the test about the shear strength of GFRP reinforced concrete beams; When maximum principal tensile stress of diagonal section over the tensile strength of concrete, the diagonal crack appears. It analyzes the factors which affecte of the shear strength, by comparing the failure mode, early diagonal cracking strength and ultimate shear strength of different specimens. It also explores the cracks and deflection properties of GFRP reinforced concrete beams, gives their formula, and determine the coefficient of their formula through analysis of the test results.3. Using finite element software ADINA, finite element simulation of GFRP reinforced concrete beams is accomplished. It is modeling method, selecting element, defining constitutive relationship of materials and solution method that are elaborated on in this paper. The reliability of theoretical methods as mentioned above is testified by compared with finite element method and experiment results.4. It has conducted the research to the designed method of the shear strength of GFRP reinforced concrete members, gives the design formula. It also confirms that the GFRP-influence coefficient is 0.677, limits the tensile strain of GFPR stirrups to 0.002 , requires section restrictions and a minimum amout of GFPR stirrups. It introduces a project application of the GFRP bars, and the feasibility of design method as mentioned above is testified by compared with the situation of its applicationWith summarizing the whole paper in the end, the innovation aspects of this paper and the issues worth further research are indicated.
