| Bamboo plays a very important role not only in ancient garden but also in modern garden because of its aesthetic features. Hang Zhou is a typical garden-like city in South China. With the rapid development of urban construction, bamboo is widely used in the gardening and greening too. It is beneficial to the forming of measures to improve the utilization effects of bamboo to summarize the experience and find shortages from the practice.Based on a review of the utilization of bamboo in urban gardening and greening, an on-the-spot investigation is implemented in four types of areas, i.e., scenic spots, residential districts, roads and common facilities. A questionnaire survey was conducted to objectively analyze and assess the effects. The methods of POE(Post Occupancy Evaluation) and IPA (Importance-Performance Analysis) were introduced the first time in the survey alike to make analysis quantitatively and subjectively, avoiding the objectivity in previous studies.Based on the investigation, about 5 genera and 21 species of bamboo have been utilized in the gardening and greening of Hangzhou. The successful experiences were elucidated. They include inheriting traditional designing methods of bamboo landscape, combining with water and stone to create ample and modern bamboo gardening landscape, introducing bamboo into indoor landscape, creating large scale of bamboo forests to increase attraction. On the other hand, the imperfections were analyzed. It was found that the number of bamboo species was still limited and most of them played a subordinate role in landscape. More attention were paid to landscape effects than to the growth demand of bamboo, and little research has been done to explore the pollution-resistant capacity of bamboo. User's needs were rarely considered so that bamboo surroundings were not ideally used. The application scope of bamboo was relatively narrow and indoor bamboo landscapes were relatively rare. Thus, some advices were put forward in this dissertation. It is suggested that more bamboo species should be used and the scope of application should be enlarged, more studies should be done to clarify the pollution-resistant capacity of bamboo, more efforts should be made to improve the use of bamboo surroundings and to strengthen the facility construction, more guideboards should be established to increase the knowledge of the citizens and the tourists. |
