This paper is mainly aimed at the project of foundation pit of coal unloading ditch of Fu Xin power plant, applied theory method and finite element method to the studying of deformation law of the Building that near the foundation pit.Firstly, the calculating of horizontal displacement of the pile that in the second section and third section is carried out by elastic foundation finite element method which is a theory method. The calculate value is approach to the measure value. Secondly, the calculating of ground settlement is carried out by the soil loss theory . Finally, converting the ground settlement into the settlement of measure point of the building, The calculate value is bigger than the measure value a lot, and the calculate value is too conservative.Through studying deformation law of the Building that near the second section and third section with three-dimensional finite element model find that the calculate value is approach to the measure value of the building. At the same time, through studying find that the changes of building settlement are notable in width direction, but they are not notable in length direction and in altitude direction; the changes of building horizontal displacement are notable in altitude direction , but they are not notable in length direction and in width direction. As far as the geology of this project be concerned, the settlement that caused by excavating is bigger than that caused by dewatering, and the settlement that caused by excavating is mainly distributed within one times foundation pit depth range, but the settlement that caused by dewatering is distributed in a bigger and more symmetrical range, the affect radius can reach about eighteen meter , but the value is very small. In addition, the deeper of the foundation of the building was buried , the smaller of the settlement was created. The study of this paper can prove that we can study the settlement of the building by three-dimensional finite element method directly, not by converting the ground settlement into the settlement of measure point of the building, and the calculate value and law are in harmony with the measure value and the actual law.
