The understanding of the world is based on our vision. Photos taken by recorded facilities simulate the projection information of scenery on one plane in certain space. Our vision impression about objects and visible light reciprocity is showed complexity by apperceived images. The nature scenery reappears more easily and agilely in faster computer. Now many special images can be made by the digital image processing technology.Two value image and grey image are often called black and white image. The bit depth of many grey images is eight, and the grey level is 256. It has higher distinguished ability for our eyes. But some expert grey images in certain fields which have higher bits can not be distinguished easily when their grey difference is small. However color images can do good .The human eyes can distinguish color more easily than grey for vision characteristic. So it is necessary to transform the grey image to related color image. Then the image information increases. Almost any data stored in computer can be showed with color image or graphics.Pseudo color processing of digital image is studied in this paper. The principle of pseudo color coding from phase-modulated image has been explored based on light density pseudo color coding experiment.Firstly image processing technology related to pseudo color is expressed gradually in this paper. Image understanding and color base interrelated to pseudo color processing are mainly introduced in the second chapter.In the third chapter some kinds of ordinary pseudo color processing method and their Matlab simulating codes are elaborated mainly. The math model of phase-modulated density pseudo color coding will be analyzed. Then we get pseudo color processing arithmetic operator with phase which is suitable for computer programming. At last medical color CT and infrared image equipment are illustrated.In the fourth chapter pseudo color schemes are realized by Matlab and VC/C++ in Windows. Many arithmetic operators are also compared. The gimp software on digital image processing in Linux has similar functions with phase-modulated pseudo color processing.Here two filter inserts on color transformation are alienmap and alienmap2. Several schemes about image quality evaluation are presented by subjective and objective point in the fifth chapter.The uncertain standard of pseudo color image processing also has been declared here,and also Matlab code of them are given. At last the superiority of pseudo color processing schemes and arithmetic operator brought in this paper is approved by diagrams.There are mainly two innovations in the paper.1. Propose two math models adapted to pseudo color processing of the digital image and three schemes on pseudo color coding of phase-modulated image. These arithmetic operators and schemes can be popularized to some fields on signal enhancement.2. Design one real-time processing system for pseudo color of phase-modulated image with 24 bits which can be applied to image recognition and image analysis.
